JG’s Skipper’s | Round 2

Welcome to JG’s Skippers. This will become a weekly article to help all you loyal followers in making one of the most important decisions you face each week. Today we look at Grundy, Cripps, Danger, Martin, Coniglio, Macrae and Fyfe… Enjoy!

Vice Captain

Brodie Grundy

Opponent: Richmond Tigers

Venue: MCG

Collingwood big man Brodie Grundy elevated his scoring last season to make him the best Ruckman of the 2018 season. Although Grundy has started slow this year with a score of 81 in his first game, his scores of yesteryear simply can’t be forgotten.

The Pies found themselves up against the Tigers three times last season. All three times Grundy was super impressive and able to score tons with ease. In those three games Grundy was able to score 146, 157 and 115 and an average of 139. All three games the Tigers played Nankervis who Grundy will be taking on this Thursday night.

Grundy loves playing at the MCG and that’s where the match against Tigers will take place. In Grundy’s last five games at the MCG last year he averaged 144 points per games which came about from scores of 141, 146, 118, 162, 157 and 113. Incredible numbers from Grundy at the Colosseum.

Patrick Cripps

Opponent: Port Adelaide

Venue: Adelaide Oval

Fast becoming one of the best contested midfielders the game has ever seen, Cripps knows how to score in SuperCoach and score well. Cripps historically plays well against the Power having played four games against them in his career at an average of 117 points per game.

Cripps has a score of 136 and low score of 108 shows that the new Carlton skipper loves to bully the Power and that’s something that will encourage SuperCoach players to give him the extra responsibilities.

Patrick Dangerfield

Opponent: Melbourne

Venue: GMHBA Stadium

Dangerfield has been one of the best players in the SuperCoach world that we have ever seen. The star cat loves playing at his home ground and seemingly loves the Dees.

In Dangerfield’s last four battles against the Dees he has averaged 124 points with a top score of 155. Not only does he have good history against the Dees, he has good history at GMHBA Stadium where he is playing this weekend.

In Dangerfield’s past six games at GMHBA he has managed to average 127 points per game with an insane top score of 187.

One to avoid

Dustin Martin

Opponent: Collingwood

Venue: MCG

Although a star of the game, Martin has been contained by the Pies in recent outings. The 2017 Brownlow medalist has a three game average of just 72 points against the Pies which came about from mediocre scores of 45, 83 and 88,

Greenwood has been the man who has been able to stop Dusty over the  past few games and has been tipped to be an inclusion for the Pies this coming weekend. Not good signs, to be safe you simply can’t put the VC on Dusty this round.

Stephen Coniglio

Opponent: West Coast Eagles

Venue: Optus Stadium

Coming off a spectacular performance against the bombers in round one, Stephen Coniglio further announced himself to the SuperCoach world. Coniglio was a monster against what was a terrible Dons outfit kicking 3 goals, racking up 31 disposals and scoring a whopping 154 points.

The WA born Coniglio has the Eagles this weekend at Optus Stadium. Coniglio hasn’t exactly set the world on fire against the Eagles over the past few match ups however, he has been consistent. In Cogs last three games against the Eagles he has scored 126, 100 and 106 points at an average of 110.6.

Coniglio’s form from last week can’t be ignored and that’s is why he should definitely be a consideration for you this weekend.

Jackson Macrae

Opponent: Hawthorn

Venue: Marvel Stadium

Jackson Macrae surprised many in 2018 when he rocketed himself into the very best in terms of average for the season. Macrae averaged 127 points last season which resulted in a highly elevated price of $689,700 to start the season. As a result many were scared off, not wanting to pick a player who only had one really good year at that hefty price. However, so far Macrae has backed up from last season scoring 132 points in his first game of the year last weekend.

Lat year Macrae showed us how much he loves the venue he plays at this weekend, Marvel stadium averaging 126 points there from 10 games there last season. Not only last season has Macrae played well at Marvel, his 132 in round one was at the newly named stadium.

Macrae didn’t verse the Hawks in 2018 however, last time they met in 2017 he managed to produce a healthy score of 119. Hopefully to those that are planning to give Macrae the captaincy duties this weekend he can produce a good score, I believe he will.

Nathan Fyfe

Opponent: Gold Coast Suns

Venue: Metricon Stadium

Superstar Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe has gotten the better of the Suns over his career, averaging 140 points against them over his career in the six games he has played against them. In his last four games in particular against the Suns, Fyfe has averaged 152 points per game.

If your VC fails and you have the great man just put the C on him. The bloke is coming off 147 points in round one, taking on one of the weakest midfields the game has seen in recent times and has a very good history against the Suns.

That’s all legends. Hope you enjoyed. See you next week.
