Last Drinks – Brisbane 2016 Preview

Blue Chip Investment
Tom Rockliff – MID – $550,100
At this price Rocky is an absolute lock. This is the same man who in 2014 averaged a whopping 132 and in 2015 averaged 101.94 despite being injury-affected. With the change to the interchange rule he will likely rest forward at times opening up the possibility of some extra points from goals as well.

Mid Price Potential
Ryan Harwood – DEF – $283,300
In his first NAB Challenge game Harwood looked great in the backline which has lead to many coaches considering him for their D4/D5 which there has been much debate around who to put their for coaches. He got 11 touches and 5 tackles against the Suns in NAB1 and was named in the Lions bests. At 24 years old now Harwood could be set for a breakout season.

Point Of Difference
Dayne Beams – MID – $612,100
Beams has been a SuperCoach star practically since his AFL career started. But even though his average hasn’t dipped under 100 in the past five years he is looking set to be passed on by most coaches. This is mainly because he is not as cheap as he has been in the past and is around the same price range as Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe and Danger to name a few. He’s also looking set to miss the first round which will make him a nice POD down the track.

Rookie
Rhys Mathieson – MID – $117,300
The biggest steal of the 2015 AFL Draft in my opinion. Mathieson who the Lions picked up at pick 39 is contested ball machine and is ready made to fit right in to senior footy straight away. Mathieson is extremely cheap, will add some grunt to a young Lions outfit and has a game-style perfect for SuperCoach.
NAB SC scores: 70

Stay Away
Ryan Bastinac – MID – $390,700
Even though Bastinac will probably slot right into a young Lions midfield but he has only averaged above 80 in one season. There’s nothing to suggest he will improve from his regular 70-80 range average and with many other options available, save yourself the trouble and don’t go near him.
