BBL SCHQ Gayle League Recap – Round 5

Round 5 was an action-packed and controversy filled round of Big Bash action. We saw Chris Lynn carry the Brisbane Heat to their first win of the season, Chris Gayle fined and reprimanded after his provocative post-innings interview and the Adelaide Strikers climb to the top of the table after their dominant win over reigning premiers Perth Scorchers.

There were some strong individual fantasy performances across the board with Aaron Finch claiming top honours with 104 points (who I luckily selected as captain this week). Other honourable mentions go to Chris Lynn (95 pts), Andre Russell (92 pts), Travis Head (91 pts) and Adil Rashid (88 pts).

In the SCHQ Gayle League, Declan had another big win, Josh’s “DoodleBugs” managed to pip Matt’s “Stoners” and Jaycob just managed to sneak through over Joseph who still is yet to register a win. I also had a strong week meaning Kyle now slots into 2nd place on the ladder.

Four teams are now all tied up on 4 points at the moment meaning we are set for a tight finish to the season.

Round 6 will see the Stars double-header so I’d advise stocking up on them then holding onto them to maximise your points in the final round when they have another DGW.

Remember, the ODI squad will assemble on Friday so popular players like Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Kane Richardson and Joel Paris will not play after that date.

Good luck for next round!

  1. Thoughts on my trades this week?
    Finch > Pietersen
    Richardson > Hastings
    Maddinson > Stanlake (via DPP)
22K in the bank to upgrade Hastings to Christian next week for the Hurricanes double game round.
Also, Pietersen or Hastings as Captain?
    Thanks
