BBL SCHQ Gayle League Recap – Round 2

Round 2 was the first round of head-to-head fixtures in BBL Fantasy with only 3 games being played before the Christmas break. Schon from SCHQ took out top honours this week, currently sitting at no. 1 in the league after scoring a big 627 points. The choice of captaining Henriques as well as picking Lumb and Rimmington, who both had big games, has paid handsome dividends for “The DoodleBugs”.

Jaycob, George and myself also started off with a win while Matt copped a tough draw, ending up only losing by 20 points while still managing to outscore most of the league. Expect to see a few teams load up on Brisbane Heat players for round 3 as they have the double-game round with the Melbourne Renegades having the bye.

Round 4 however will be the one to start preparing for as we see the Sixers, Renegades and Scorchers all play twice over the New Year period.

This next round of head-to-head action should spread the field a considerable amount with no. 1 ranked “DoodleBugs” up against no. 2 “Jaycob’s Fantasy”. George’s “Banter Brigade” will compete against Joseph’s “King Lizard Gizard” while Matt’s “Stoners” face Kyle’s “souldoubt”. Finally I will go up against fellow SCHQ writer Declan this week in what will be an interesting round of Big Bash Fantasy.

    1. Good trades Pinidu, I’m backing Simmons for a big round. Be prepared to trade those guys back in next round though for the Renegades DGW.

      1. I think Reardon is a fantastic T20 batsman but since he will be batting 4 or 5 he has less opportunity for points than Lynn or Simmons. However he would be a good point of difference selection over Lynn if you were to take that angle. Go with your gut on this one but I think it would be a risky decision to pick him over those two.

  1. As we have three trades every round available to us….I was thinking of one of the following for my last trade this round:
Kallis > Russel OR Richardson > Russel OR Richardson > Behrendorff
What do you think about these? Behrendorff was included in the scorchers 13 man squad for tomorrow and the scorchers have their DGW coming up. Are any of these trades worth it?

    Thanks

    1. Yeah Behrendorff will likely play tomorrow and would be a good pick for the Scorchers DGW. He is over 90k though and there is a chance he will drop a fair amount in value this week if he doesn’t have a good game. I think you should keep Kallis and also probably Richardson as well as the Strikers don’t have a single bye round. Look at getting Behrendorff once we’ve seen how he goes in his comeback and sit on that final trade in case of any emergencies. Remember, you can always trade a Renegade in to your starting lineup if someone on your bench does well (it takes the lowest score if both bench players play). Hope this helped.

      1. Yeh, change in club hasn’t suited his style and has been used in the power play a lot which is why he’s getting whacked, hope he can turn around
