Goal Mouth Scramble – Round 2

Welcome to the Scramble for its debut week. I’ll be looking at those little last minute changes you should be considering for the upcoming week. I’ll also be taking pot shots at teams and players on a regular basis, so feel free to give me some ammo on Twitter and try and stay out of the firing line.

Check out all the teams’ ins and outs here.

JAMIE MACLAREN

A brilliant debut up north for Jamie Maclaren (FWD, $250k) returned him two goals and 15 points. Well done to the coaches who snapped him up so early. He will be central to Brisbane’s hopes this year with limited attacking options otherwise. A safe bet if you want to bring him in, especially with the Mariners this weekend.

JOHN HALL

Many A-League fans (especially those ignorant Victory galoots) would’ve been asking “who’s John Hall?” when he started last week for Adelaide. However the 20 year old filled in for Eugene Galekovic (Aus duty) valiantly and returned a clean sheet and eight points. Now main man Galekovic has been ruled out for a month and possibly six weeks, Hall (GK, $125k) gets an extended run in the Adelaide side.

NEWCASTLE DEFENCE

The Jets got their campaign off to a flying start with a win away from home but they come away with two key injuries: captian Nigel Boogaard and left back Ki-Je Lee have both been ruled out for this week.

It opens the door for the likes of Daniel Mullen (DEF, $150k), Jason Hoffman (DEF, $125k) and potentially Allan Welsh (DEF, $125k) to get guaranteed game time this week against Sydney

ANDREW DURANTE

The Wellington veteran is the only other key out this week, which is a good result for fantasy coaches, no offense Drew. He was subbed out after 27 minutes with a calf complaint and will miss up to three weeksTom Doyle (DEF, $125k) looks to be his direct replacement and he offers value at such a cheap price.

However if you do have Durante, Brisbane’s Daniel Bowles (DEF, $125k) could be your answer after opening with 11 points.

Who are you scrambling around this week?
