POD Report – Round 11

I’m back after a week off! School reports took priority last week, but now that they’re done I’ve been back into the SuperCoach stats. Here’s what I’ve uncovered for you:

Ollie Wines (midfielder – selected in 4% of sides – 3 round average of 115.67)
Ollie Wines is having a fantastic year. He began with 130 & 105, then a 75 when he was subbed off with injury. He had four weeks off and has come back with 100, 123 & 124. He’s averaging 109 with his injury game included and 115 without it; fairly amazing for a guy priced at just $533,400. He was 514k last week, but his Rd11 breakeven is just 69, so he won’t be getting much cheaper for the rest of the year. Unlikely to stay a POD if he keeps this up, but jump on before your mates and opponents!

Brett Deledio (forward/midfielder – selected in 7.1% of sides – 4 round average of 123.5)
He is not a huge point of difference, but I didn’t want to ignore ‘Lids’. He scored a 66 in Round 1 and was injured and suspended and then a 60 upon his return in Round 6. Over the next 3 rounds he averaged 136 and then produced a solid 85 against Fremantle on Friday. Richmond is playing much better with him. He’s a barometer for them and could be for your SuperCoach side.

Shane Savage (defender – selected in 2.1% of sides – averaging 68.89)
I’ve loved watching Savage in Saints’ games since he came over as a ‘steak knives’, albeit handy steak knives, in the Pick 17 (Dunstan) for Ben McEvoy trade. His raking left boot and effective disposal made him an enticing SuperCoach prospect. He started off with a couple of tons and then his scores were very up and down. He scored two 90s after bottoming out at 304k and many thought he would be worth getting in. That all changed when he was dropped, obviously to work on some areas. He was straight back into the senior side in Round 10 but started as sub and scored 37.

Pearce Hanley (midfielder – selected in 0.1% of sides – 117 in only game)
The Irishman returned in Round 10 after a long lay off through injury. After missing 9 rounds of football, his return was sensational. He had 21 disposals (17 kicks & 5 contested) at 76% efficiency, 6 marks & 5 tackles and still scores 117 SuperCoach points despite 3 free kicks against. He does cost a hefty 557k, but the bigger downside is that he lost his mid/def dual position status. Would be a lock for defence otherwise.
